After some back-and-forth with EA support, they told me to find 'giveme2entitlements. Of course, that's a program that someone wrote to crack the game so the DLC would work. And now EA support is pointing people to it, instead of fixing the game themselves.
Inthat file was relatively easy to find and run, but here at the end ofall I could find was sites telling you how to check if it had a virus. Happily, I still had my old machine, and found a copy of it there.

I feel like I got ripped off as I keep getting the run around. Awesome, thank you! No, mate. You don't have to buy it again. You can use the same key that you got for buying the game on the Steam to activate it on Origin. No extra cost GregDave [author] 31 Dec, pm. Hate that the answer is buying it in two places, but oh well. It's much easier to redeem and download the main game on Origin and let it handle all the DLC rather than you having to fanny about with all these workarounds.
The reason I bought on Steam in the first place was in the hope I would be able to avoid Origin entirely as I'm not a fan. However, as that is not possible you might as well let Origin do the whole thing rather than fighting to get Origin and Steam working in tandem. SwiftDrifter 10 Oct, pm. I just did it this way; I bought it on Steam without knowing what a pain in the butt the DLC would be, I would've just done it all via Origins had I know, but.
Open Origin, under Games menu, add a non-Origins game, enter the key from Steam 3. Download and install DLC via Origins 5. When that's done, open Steam, verify integrity of local files for ME2 7. DLC now available in Steam, Cerebus network connected Downloading the DLC for free from the above link won't help because you haven't purchased access to it.
If you download it and install without purchasing it you'll get the error message about not having access to the DLC when you log in. Logged on with my origin account again nothing. Funny thing when i first bought it it played like a charm without all this hasstle. Sorry little fiesty about it all. Share to your Steam activity feed.
